'The Three Little Pigs' houses were fun to make, especially the one made from straw because there was a mess all over the classroom! We talked about their design and how we were going to make them and we think they look great!
The Nursery children have been enjoying the story of The Three Little Pigs and learning about the different material each pig used to build their house. We have learning about building walls and made some of our own using plastic and wooden bricks. We used a...
We have been learning about different materials such as fabric, glass, metal, wood, cardboard and plastic. When we handled them they looked and felt different, and some of them were heavier than the others. We are also learning about what they are used for.

What’s happening this term…
Croeso pawb/Welcome everyone! In Early Years our focus Area of Learning and Experience (AoLE) is Science and Technology this half term.
Our literacy this term is based on the Traditional Tale of ‘The Three Little Pigs’. We will be doing lots of exciting activities to learn about different materials and their uses including building houses for the three little pigs! As always, there will be lots of opportunities for the children to develop their Language, Literacy and Communication skills and Talk4Writing strategies to develop our creative writing, including our Read,Write,Inc. phonics scheme and group reading. We will also have fun exploring lots of reading and writing materials to develop our enjoyment and understanding. Our Welsh story is ‘Bwyta’n Iach’ and we continue to use Welsh throughout the day and practise our daily drills.
We’ll be doing lots of maths through practical experiences that interest us. We’ll learn about representing numbers in a variety of ways and deepen our understanding through our CPA (Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract) Approach. We will also play with numbers in our daily activities and develop different ways of solving problems in a variety of situations indoors and outdoors. We’ll investigate the properties of shapes and develop our understanding of pattern, time and money in ways that are meaningful to us.
We’ll also be doing lots of activities to investigate how things happen and develop our creative skills.
We are looking forward to a busy and exciting term! Please remember to check our ‘ClassDojo’ app for information about activities, messages and notifications.
Diolch! Thank you!
