We go outside and inside, use our woods, mud kitchen and equipment to practice our our skills in mathematics. We really enjoyed going on a Number Hunt to find numbers in our environment.
We have been making the most of the sunshine and dry weather to play sports on our school field.
This term the reception class has enjoyed learning about pirates. They have made telescopes, hats and even treasure maps! The ride on the pirate ship was exciting too; we found treasure on board!
We have done some experiments with water, like freezing it and melting it again. We also learned about the water cycle and how the rain is made.
What’s happening this term…
Croeso pawb/Welcome everyone! In Early Years our topic this term is ‘Splish, Splash, Splosh’.
Our literacy this term is based on ‘Hey, Water’, ‘The Beach’, ‘Somebody Swallowed Stanley’ and ‘The Storm Whale’. We are developing our awareness of non-fiction and using Talk4Writing strategies to develop our creative writing skills. Throughout the term we will have lots of language experiences and activities including our Read,Write,Inc. phonics scheme and group reading. Developing our skills through talking, communicating and listening. We will have fun exploring lots of reading and writing materials to develop our enjoyment and understanding. Our Welsh story is ‘Mor Leidr’ and we continue to use Welsh throughout the day and practise our daily drills.
We’ll be doing lots of maths through practical experiences that interest us. We’ll learn about representing numbers in a variety of ways and deepen our understanding through our CPA (Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract) Approach. We will also play with numbers in our daily activities and develop different ways of solving problems in a variety of situations indoors and outdoors. We’ll investigate the properties of shapes and develop our understanding of pattern, time and money in ways that are meaningful to us.
We’ll also be doing lots of activities to investigate how things happen and develop our creative skills.
We are looking forward to a busy and exciting term! Please remember to check our ‘CLassDojo’ app for information about activities, messages and notifications.
Diolch! Thank you!
