We love the outdoors!

We love to use our outdoor environment and we have been busy using natural resources to help us with our learning. Our favourite so far was collecting acorns and using them to help us with our maths.

What’s happening this term?

Hello and welcome back to the Summer term and our topic is ‘The Seaside’. We have been busy planning what we would like to discover about this topic and we have some fantastic ideas, which include painting and learning more about sea creatures, rock pooling, crabbing and having an ice cream on the beach!

We have already learned about sharks and starfish by labelling and creating a fact file, an outdoor scavenger hunt to become familiar with all the sea animals living in a rockpool and our favourite so far was the Limpet Shell game. We are looking forward to a Darwin virtual lesson before we investigate the rock pools on our beach.

Our literacy this term is based on the story ‘Sharing a Shell’, ‘Tiddler’ and the video ‘The Ugly Sharkling’. We are using Talk4Writing strategies to improve our creative writing and to retell stories. We continue our RWI phonic scheme and group reading. Our Maths is focusing on Place Value, division and multiplication and time with lots of hands on activities.

We use Welsh throughout the day and practise our daily drills with the help of our puppets FFlic and FFlac!

We have completed another one of our #FABB6 by using the beach as our sports field to practise our sports day activities- sprinting, balancing a bean bag, egg and spoon and of course building a sandcastle!

We have a busy but exciting term ahead of us!
