Instructional writing in Science
Year 5 had a challenge to see if they could put a pin in a balloon without popping it. They had to follow the instructions carefully.

Year 5 enter Redhill Chess Competition
Huge congratulations to the pupils who took part in the chess competition. It was a lovely day and fantastic experience. All Year 5 pupils have learnt how to play chess correctly this year, enjoying the benefits of this strategic game.

Year 5 have enjoyed using the school 4k digital cameras recently capturing lots of beautiful images on our local beaches. The children are also taking the cameras home to capture the phases of the moon this month.

Keeping fit, health and wellbeing!
Year 5 are enjoying keeping fit in weekly PE sessions. Recently we have been practising cross country and team games such as football and netball.
What’s happening this term?
In Year 5 our driver this term will be The Tudors. We will be learning about life in the Tudor period, from Tudor cooking lessons to performing a Tudor play for parents.
In Numeracy we will continue learning about the four rules, time and reasoning questions. We will also be converting units, measuring capacity and studying geometry.
Language continues with spelling groups, comprehension work and different forms of writing. We will begin with a recount.
Science will be living things and their habitats.
