Saundersfoot CP School pupils have had first class results following the Urdd regional heat held on Friday 3rd March.  Sixteen talented  (albeit nervous)  individuals attended the heats held at Ysgol Hafan Y Mor.

The highlight for Saundersfoot was Year 5 and 6 pupils who were awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the Year 5 and 6 recital – Siopa. This unique achievement was extra special as there were 41 competitors in the field, with a Saundersfoot pupil starting the competition and ending it. Congratulations to all pupils who took part especially to Elizabeth- 1st, Lily – 2nd and Breagh 3rd.

We must also congratulate the pupils who are new to the Welsh language and represented the school,  Denisa and Frankie.  Denisa, a Year 2 EAL  pupil should be congratulated for her hard work and pronunciation of Welsh and was awarded 2nd place in her recital. Frankie, a year 4 pupil moved to Saundersfoot last year from Hampshire and has been amazing in learning Welsh and narrowly missed out on a podium finish.

Mr. Allen, Headteacher said ‘ We are tremendously proud of all our pupils for taking part. We must not forget some of these pupils have never experienced this type of arena due to the impact of Covid. I know for sure some of our pupils battled their nerves just to stand on the stage. They represent us all by displaying resilience and a never give up attitude. As always, I am so grateful to staff members who have given up their time to help support the pupils; Mrs Howell Evans, Mrs Davies, class teachers and parents/carers-a heartfelt Diolch yn fawr.’
