What’s happening this term?
|
This enchanting tale will serve as an anchor for various activities, including discussions, comprehension exercises, and creative writing tasks. We believe this beautiful story of a china rabbit’s adventures will captivate the children’s imaginations and inspire thoughtful discussions about themes such as love, loss, and recovery.
In Mathematics, we will continue to build on the foundations learned in previous terms with a particular emphasis on the multiplication tables for 3 and 4. Mastery of these times tables is crucial as they form the basis for more complex numerical concepts that will be introduced later in the year. We would greatly appreciate your help in practicing these tables at home through fun and engaging activities, which will reinforce their learning in class. Look up Mark Ronson on YouTube.
We’ve also been putting a lot of emphasis on telling the time. Understanding both analogue and digital clocks is a fundamental skill, and it’s wonderful to see the children’s enthusiasm as they master this. You might want to encourage them to practice at home by asking them to help with time-related tasks, like setting the table for dinner at a specific time or knowing when it’s time to leave for school.
Our Science topic for this term is Electricity and Circuits. The children will investigate how electrical circuits work, identify and classify different components, and conduct simple experiments to see electricity in action.
In Literacy, a significant focus will be placed on character descriptions and settings. Through detailed study and creative exercises, the children will be able to observe and describe characters from our class text and beyond. These activities will develop their descriptive vocabulary and writing techniques, enhancing their ability to create vivid and compelling character portrayals in their own stories.
