What’s happening this term?

We have an exciting and busy term ahead! Here’s what we’ll be learning:
Our main topic is World War II. We’ll explore the causes of the war, key events on the timeline, evacuation, and rationing. A highlight will be our visit to Carew Control Tower, where we’ll deepen our understanding of this important period in history.
In English, we’ll be reading Friend or Foe by Michael Morpurgo and studying war-themed poetry. Our writing this term will include letters, character descriptions, and non-chronological reports, all linked to our WWII topic.
In Maths, we’ll focus on place value, including negative numbers, and continue to build confidence in using the four operations to solve a range of problems.
Our Science learning begins with studying living things and the conditions needed for life. After half term, we’ll move on to light, exploring light sources, how light travels, and how it reflects. We’re also looking forward to welcoming the Darwin Centre for some hands-on science workshops!
In Welsh, we’ll be revising how to talk about ourselves and learning to describe past events—making links to our WWII theme.
Additionally, pupils will have the opportunity to attend a Dementia Friends games morning at Regency Hall, where they’ll connect with members of the community affected by dementia and build meaningful relationships through play.
We are looking forward to a term full of learning, discovery, and memorable experiences!
