We've been exploring lots of practical maths activities focused on place value — and we love taking our learning outdoors to our shed!
Our Teddy Bear’s Picnic
Dosbarth Melyn had a fantastic time at the beach for their Teddy Bears' Picnic. The children made jam sandwiches and decorated biscuits to enjoy alongside their favourite teddy bears. They had lots of fun playing on the sand and making special memories together.

Welcome to Dosbarth Melyn
We are looking forward to a rewarding year ahead!
This term we are:
Our topic for this term is Terrific Toys, where pupils will develop their enquiry skills by exploring toys from the past. To support this learning, we will be visiting Picton Castle to investigate and experience historical toys firsthand.
In Literacy, we will be reading Toys in Space and Lost in the Toy Museum. Our writing and literacy activities will be based on these engaging stories.
In Mathematics, our focus will be on number and place value, while in Science we will be exploring materials and their properties. For ICT, pupils will be developing their digital skills using JIT on the HWB.
In Welsh, we will continue to use everyday Welsh in the classroom, supported by our Helpwr Heddiw.
Our class reading dinosaur, Stomp, will also be sent home daily with different pupils to encourage and enjoy shared reading experiences.
Outdoor learning and independent activities are an important part of our daily routine, helping pupils to develop confidence, resilience, and independence. We also deliver daily phonics sessions to support the development of sound recognition, fluency, and reading skills.
We are confident this will be a successful and enjoyable term for all pupils in Dosbarth Melyn.
